Metro: Last Light is the upcoming sequel to Metro 2033. It was originally named Metro 2034, but was changed for unknown reasons. Those Metro 2033 was based on the book also called Metro 2033, Metro: Last Light will not be based on Metro 2034, though author Dmitry Glukhovsky did work with the developers on the game.

The game is currently being developed by the Ukrainian game studio 4A Games, the developers of Metro 2033. The game was originally supposed to be published by THQ, but after they filed for bankruptcy, the 4A Games and the Metro franchise were put up for auction. Now the game will be published by Deep Silver, the publishers of Dead Island, instead of THQ. The game will be available for Windows, Xbox 360, and PS3.

The game was originally scheduled to be released in the middle of 2012, however, on Feb 2, 2012, THQ announced a delay and pushed the release back until the first quarter of 2013. On March 1, 2013, the game’s release date was pushed back again to May of 2013. Currently, the game is scheduled for relase on May 14, 2013 in North America and on May 17, 2013 in Europe.

Metro: Last Light is going to be set in the game post-apocalyptic future that the previous game, Metro 2033, was set in. The game is supposed to feature mankind fighting to survive underneath the ruins of Moscow. Unlike most modern games, Metro: Last Light will only feature a single player mode and will not have a multiplayer option. It will be a First Person Shooter.
