3 Skyrim Mods That Can Add Realism To Skyrim

While the Elder Scrolls:Skyrim does look beautiful, there are mods that could add that extra bit of realism to the game.

Realistic Sun Glare

This mod adds to the Sun glare in Skyrim, it is quite subtle but you may find that you like it and its a nice add-on.

A more realistic, higher resolution sun glare. Medium resolution is 1024×1024 and high-resolution is 2048×2048 while the original was 512×512.

Realistic Water Textures

The mod really does what it aims to do well, look at the image below comparing the vanilla Skyrim and the mod.

Brand new textures based off of actual, high-resolution photography. The full version includes water B with waterfalls, foam, and blacksmith’s water. Waters A and C are the same as water B but differ by light reflectivity. Water D is an alternate surface with cleaner, more parallel waves. To see the comparison image better, right-click the thumbnail and open the image in a new tab/window. If you don’t want to deal with options just download and install the full package.

Realistic Smoke And Embers

Transparent fire. Increased ember detail. No more cotton wisps of smoke. All new textures with higher resolutions. Medium is 2X the various original resolutions and high is 4X. I haven’t redone ALL smoke and fire textures so let me know which ones would benefit from a new texture the most. My focus is on environments so I will not be doing fire spells.
