EA Trying To Make Wii U Origin Exclusive

According to WiiUgo, EA is rigorously trying to make the Wii Y and Origin exclusive with the goal to block the Steam platform out completely.

They apparently received a tip from an EA intern who is friends with an EA Network Engineer (yea we know). EA is allegedly helping Nintendo with the Wii U’s online capabilities such as: voice- and video-chatting support, leaderboards, and detailed friend lists that tell you who’s online and what they’re playing.

From The Source:

Many publishers are happy with Xbox Live’s features, but they aren’t happy with how strict Microsoft’s guidelines are.  Nintendo went with an open flexible approach with online because when Nintendo asked developers/publishers what they wanted in an online service, that was the number one thing they asked for.

Most importantly however, is the news that EA is trying to push their Origin platform as a key element in Nintendo’s online features. EA however is not alone, Valve seems to want to emplement their Steam platform into the Wii U however EA is obviously pushing their platform as the best option.

No we do not know how distribution platforms will be implemented however it will most likely not be anything like the PC.
