That’s right, Modern Warfare 3 beat out Gears of War 3, and Battlefield 3 for the title of “Best shooter of the year” at last nights 2011 VGAs.(Video Games Awards) Although I wasn’t the least bit surprised with this, I can only imagine Gears of War 3 and Battlefield 3 fans reactions to this announcement.
The Modern Warfare series has been accused of being too repetitive, and the new Modern Warfare 3 was no exception with this. However, it appears as though, even with all the negative feedback the game has received regarding this issue and others, it still managed to come out on top in the end. Whether or not it truly is the “Best shooter of the year”, well, that’s simply a matter of opinion. I’m sure there’s a good majority of gamers out there who were slightly infuriated with this decision, and others whom were perfectly fine if not happy with it. I myself enjoy the game for what it is, and personally, I thought it could go either way.
The VGAs also revealed quite a few upcoming game trailers, some of which left me somewhat disappointed, others that kept me on the edge of my seat. Of course, this is all preference, and the games that had me completely excited, might have left others feeling not so impressed. Regardless, I’m going to urge my readers to check out the following link to the game trailer I’ve posted below for Naughty Dog’s “The Last of Us”. This game is PS3 exclusive, and if you’re not into survival based games with zombies or plagues, you might want to skip it altogether and go check out some of the other trailers available on YouTube, just in case you missed them
Something about this type of game always excites me! All in all the 2011 VGAs were pretty decent in my opinion, a little boring at times, and the Jonas brother threw me off,(yeah, a Jonas brother) but it was well worth the watch.
So, do you think Modern Warfare 3 deserved to win the “Best shooter of the year” title? If so, why? Let us know your opinion on the matter!
